Tu Dieta Mediática Equilibrada is the Chilean version of Your Balanced Media Diet, first created for Science Gallery Dublin. I was invited by Science Gallery International and the Embassy of Ireland in Chile to adapt the work for Congreso Futuro, Latin America’s largest science and innovation festival. This marked the first time the installation was exhibited in Latin America — and the first time it spoke Spanish.
To create a version that would resonate locally, I dove into Chile’s unique media landscape — one shaped not only by digital platforms and shifting consumption habits, but also by the country’s recent political history, ownership structures, and evolving relationship with press freedom. Through interviews with Chilean journalists, academics, and media users, I learned how distinct the Chilean context is from the typical Western news environment.

The installation was fully adapted to reflect this context: from the news sources represented, to the humour used, to the foods selected for the fridge and cookbook. This Spanish, Chile-specific version invited visitors in Santiago to consider their own media habits with a fresh local flavour.
