Ross Dowd
Industrial Designer

Ross Dowd is a multi-disciplinary, award-winning industrial & interaction designer based in New York & Dublin. He creates products, experiences, and installations that facilitate meaningful interactions between people, as well as between users and their environment.

He received his B.Des (Hons) in Industrial Design from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, where he graduated with first class honours. He has exhibited work at Science Gallery Dublin, D’Days 2015 Design Festival, and received the Universal Design Award at the Institute of Designers Ireland Graduate Awards 2016, and again at the IDI Awards 2020. Ross also worked as an Industrial Design Lead at Nokia Bell Labs, on Dublin’s Hardware Innovation Team (2016-2020).

Ross’ design practice fuses art and science, and he has eagerly participated in the Experiments in Arts and Technology (E.A.T.) program throughout his tenure at Nokia Bell Labs. Through E.A.T., he designed and built a motion-responsive audio demo for an interactive spoken-word performance. This performance toured to Inspirefest and Ireland’s Edge in 2017, and to the Re:Logia conference in 2019, where Ross also gave a Keynote speech about the intersection of art and technology. Always seeking to learn new skills and expand his area of expertise, Ross has recently completed a diploma in UX Design at the UX Design Institute.

He currently works as a Design Strategist for A+I, a strategy-led, integrated design agency based in New York.
